Dignity of Labor?

Today, Nidhi & I cleaned the house. It wasn’t fun in any way. Scrubbing the bathtub and the toilet commode is not uplifting for the soul, nor is vacuuming the carpet any more enlightening than doing the dishes. Yet, we had to spend the better part of the day doing this. We did not have a choice.┬áThis is what I most detest about living in the US. You live in the wealthiest country in the world yet majority of its middle/working class can not afford to outsource its run-of-the-mill chores. The cost of domestic help is so high that you can afford to buy a new hybrid car on a good day but can not hire a maid for an year. Read the rest of this entry »
